Peace protest planned in downtown Portland today

By NW Spotlight

A peace protest, “marking 20 years of U.S. war on Iraq”, is planned in downtown Portland today, starting at 4:30 pm at SW 3rd and Madison, and it will include a sidewalk march across the Hawthorne Bridge. The peace activists will be remembering the first U.S. attack on Iraq in 1991, as well as “the current U.S. occupation of Iraq”. A few years ago, these protests used to mention the president – don’t know why that element has been discontinued. It’s also unclear from the protest announcement when the protests will be held for the occupation of Germany, Japan, Korea or Afghanistan.
