The City of Salem passed a local payroll wage tax.
A campaign has been launched to stop it.
The Salem City politicians denied voters a chance to vote on this costly wage tax. The enclosed petition gives voters the right to vote on it — so we can stop it at the ballot and not have to pay it.
The wage tax rate is 0.814% of all wages earned within the city of Salem for most workers. On average, it will cost many Salem workers around $300 to $700 per year in extra taxes. It will hurt you right in your pocketbook. While others are cutting taxes across America, Salem is raising taxes & driving small businesses away. It is tragic. High taxes create poverty. We must stop this!
The referendum petition campaign aims to raise 6,000 signatures by August 6th.
