ECOnorthwest reports that Multnomah, Washington and Clackamas counties, in 2023 spent roughly $531 million on homeless programs.  This money serves about 20,000 homeless in the Portland Metro area.

At the same time this month, Multnomah County is pledging to give away 6,000 tents to homeless (on top of the 20,000 already given out).

Multnomah has seen homeless increase, while Clackamas and Washington County have seen a decrease.

The $541 million represents about $27,000 of taxpayer paid services and goods to each homeless person in the Portland Metro area.
