Oregon Governor Tina Kotek is asking President Biden to designate federal protection for southeast Oregon’s Owyhee Canyonlands. Congress has not voted on it, so Kotek is asking that Biden subvert Congress to go ahead and do it anyway.

OPB states, “Kotek wants the Biden administration to designate the Owyhee Canyonlands in southeastern Oregon a national monument if Congress won’t vote to protect it”

If this is a good idea, then Congress should vote for it. We can’t have Presidents and Governors acting like their own Congress. Also, this bypass process cheats citizens out of a chance to testify on how it should be done and where it should be done.   There is no local elected representative to ask questions to or to share your thoughts.
