3 big hand-outs for non-citizens

We discovered 3 Oregon Government handouts for non-citizens at taxpayer expense.

#1. $30,000 home grants: Oregon is granting free $30,000 house down payments to non-citizens through the Hacienda Home Ownership Program.   The program was advertised as exclusively for non-citizens.   A publci outcry occurred and the program’s non-profit said their advertisement was in error and that current citizens can apply too.

#2. $1,000/Month Youth Homeless stipend.  The governor’s Direct Cash Transfer Program gives $1,000 monthly checks to younger homeless people.  It has a target list of priorities which include pregnant women, former incarcerated people and non-citizens.   This is a test pilot program and it is likely that our lawmakers did not vote for this specific program.

#3. $30 million welcome center.  The State of Oregon spent $30 million for a “welcome center” airport hotel exclusively for migrants and non-citizens.  Many of the tenants were sent by a California non-profit that recommended migrants comes to Oregon for the free hotel    One migrant already using the hotel services told KGW-TV that the reason she came to Oregon was for the free services, “They told me that it was better here [Oregon], that there are jobs — that they provide help here.”  In a way, she was right because she landed a free hotel — but the money is running out.    The photo above shows the actual Ramada Inn that was changed into a welcome center hotel.

Because Oregon is listed as among the top 5 homeless states in America, we should re-consider how our local hand-outs are attracting people to come to our state to take advantage of our social services which are over-run.
