Chart forecasts Measure 118 future

High-paying and high-productive manufacturing jobs are disappearing in America.

Look at how poorly manufacturing performed last month.  It led America in job losses.

High taxes, punishing environmental red-tape regulations and high labor costs push factories out of America and into foreign nations that have terrible environmental/pollution and labor laws.

When Oregon lost Columbia Steel, guess where those services likely ended up — overseas where manufacturing is growing and more polluted.

Measure 118 — the largest tax in Oregon history will hit manufacturing very hard.

The Tax Foundation reports,

“Unfortunately, this sales tax isn’t just imposed at the retail level. It’s also imposed on the same product at the wholesale level, and at each stage of the manufacturing process. The tax is embedded at every level of production. This creates incentives for businesses to do as much of their production as possible outside Oregon borders, which is bad for Oregon’s economy. When businesses can’t do that, or there are significant additional costs associated with out-of-state manufacture or purchase, much of the added cost will be embedded in the final price that consumers pay, a process known as tax pyramiding”

.

This is why we produced this satirical forecast chart, because Oregon’s manufacturing is already hurting from high taxes (among nations highest).  It will get worse.
