Intel drops 1200 Oregonians (3x more if Measure 118 passes)

Intel announced that it is laying off 1,200 Oregon workers in the Portland Metro area.   Nationwide, Intel is expected to lay off a total of 15,000 workers.   This comes after Biden awarded Intel $8 billion in CHIPS Act grants.  This means the industry as a whole is in deep trouble. According to Forbes, over 380 tech companies have laid off 124,000 employees this year alone.

Now imagine Measure 118 — the $2 billion dollar tax.   This tax is in sales/revenue and not profit.  So when entire industries are in decline period, Oregon Ballot Measure Measure 118 would slam them with higher taxes at the worst possible moment.

Measure 118 would loot Intel while they are hurting and then use the money to award $1,600 rebate checks to …

– Every homeless Oregonian
– Every criminal in prison
– Dead people who lived 1 day in Oregon the prior year
– Every millionaire in Oregon

Measure 118 is a giant blow to Oregon’s business and our economy. Measure 118 in turn will drive away businesses and raise grocery prices at our stores.

 

7 Reasons to Reject Measure 118:

  1. Taxes Are Already Too High!

The nonpartisan Tax Foundation found that Oregon has one of the highest business tax burdens in the country. Another report found that Oregonians spend more money on taxes than 48 other states. Measure 118 would make it worse!

Los Angeles cryptocurrency billionaire Josh Jones has already personally given over HALF A MILLION dollars to increase your taxes by funding Measure 118. But he himself won’t pay a penny more under Measure 118. Why does he want to use Oregonians as his tax guinea pig?

  1. Worse Than a Sales Tax: Costing YOU more!

Measure 118 would tax every step of the supply chain. Farm to processor? Taxed! Processor to packaging? Taxed! Packaging to distributor? Taxed! Distributor to grocery store? Taxed! Grocery store to you? TAXED! This would jack up healthcare costs, the price at the pump, and everyday essentials.

  1. A Blank Check for Politicians!

Measure 118 doesn’t guarantee any Oregonian gets a single penny. Instead, Measure 118 creates a slush fund that politicians could redirect to use for themselves whenever they want.

Because Measure 118 applies to any Oregon resident, it would in effect send $750 checks to rapists, murderers, and even kidnappers serving time in prison for their heinous crimes.
