Map shows world’s proxy hands in Syria

By Taxpayers Association of Oregon Foundation,

The Wall Street Journal provided this map which shows a lot of nations (Russia, Iran, USA, Israel, Turkey) having various parts of Syria.    This makes Syria one of the biggest proxy war battlegrounds in the world.

Many are surprised to learn of an American zone in Syria, where as many as 900 troops have been stationed over the years.

There is also a shadow of a religious-interest war going on.  The Syrian government is being backed by Shiite Muslim groups (Iran) while much of the rest of the areas is being supported/led by Sunni Muslim groups (Kurds,Turkey, Syrian Sunnis).  Shiite Muslims make up around 10% of all Muslims, whereas Sunnis make up 90%.

A lot of weapons, armies, carnage, tripwires, money and conflicting interest are packed into this small area.
