Kotek picks fight with Trump (with our tax $$)

Oregon Governor Tina Kotek just held a secret closed-door meeting with top Oregon officials (Secretary of State, State Treasurer, Attorney General) to work on a game plan on how to stop Trump and his policies.

Governor Kotek’s new 2025 budget has proposed setting aside nearly $10 million of our tax dollars to protect Oregon liberal politics from the new President.

Governor Kotek wants to quickly cash grab any unspent funds from the Biden administration.  Nationally, there are potential tens of billions in unspent and un-allocated funds from Biden’s initiatives (Covid funds, Infrastructure Act, CHIPS Act).   This includes allocated funds that have been distributed but not spent.    This may mean Kotek will waste such funds on unnecessary green transportation projects and block Trump from using it on actual roads, bridges or even deficit reduction to save taxpayers money.

Kotek plans to spend $1 million (of you tax dollars) to fund lawsuits against the Trump administration.

Kotek looks to interfere with Trump’s efforts from enforcing Federal immigration laws.   This may end up protecting criminals.  Under one estimate there may be as many as 7,000 identified illegal migrants with a criminal record just in Oregon (1).   Will Kotek protect citizens from criminals or criminals from citizens and our laws?

The Taxpayers Association of Oregon previously reported that Kotek plans to blame any inflation in 2025 on Trump and not Biden.

We stated last week, “Oregon Governor Kotek just released the state budget for 2025-2027 and it goes off-topic and out of its way to send warnings about the Trump administration in 2025.  Kotek’s budget says (page 2) “Many of the sources of the post-covid inflation flare-up appear poised to be present, or reemerge in slightly different forms, during the next presidential term … including immigration restrictions, fiscal policy and tax reform“. Kotek is saying that inflation may re-emerge and go up in 2025 if Trump is successful in cutting taxes.That is not how it works… Governor Kotek also warns that if Trump is successful in closing the border that it too will cause inflation.”
