Sen. Boquist: Electricity cost 50% more, Ag Trump hunt, more…

By Oregon State Senator Brian Boquist,
Highlights, excerpts from Sen. Boquist newsletter

— Portland Tribune.  12/20/24.  “State regulators approve more electricity rate hikes for Oregonians in 2025: Most Oregonians will pay about 50% more for electricity than they did just 5 years ago following rate increases from the state’s largest electric utilities … The state’s Public Utilities Commission — a three-person governor-appointed group charged with regulating the rates of privately owned utilities in Oregon — approved …”  To be clear, the Oregon Legislature controlled by Democrats have been adding environmental and climate requirements that have jacked your bill as well.  If you go cold or cannot afford your heat complain to the Legislature

— Oregon Capitol Insider.  12/19/2024.  “Oregon AG rolls out sanctuary information for immigrants before Trump takes office:  Rosenblum’s release of the toolkit in English and Spanish is intended to inform immigrants as Oregon braces for likely increased federal immigration activity after President-elect Donald Trump … She’s leaving office in January and former House Speaker Dan Rayfield is taking her place and has told the Capital Chronicle he expects to also have to file lawsuits against the Trump administration …”  Are these two really lawyers under the authority of the courts?  Or insurrectionists?  Or do they want to secede from the United States with California and Washington?

— Dan Rayfield.com.  12/19/2024.  “Attorney General-elect Dan Rayfield Establishes Federal Oversight and Accountability Cabinet:  Attorney General-elect Dan Rayfield announced today the establishment of the Federal Oversight and Accountability Cabinet.”  This is the anti-Trump team per local media.  The who’s who of unions and donors … sounds like January 6th except it is Democrats?  Apparently, they do not want federal funding … so are they proposing secession?  The U.S. Supreme Court is clear the USG can block funding to states when they violate federal laws.  In fact, Oregon is arguing over hundreds of millions right now … hence the special session a week ago.

— NDTV World.  12/21/2024.  “Joe Biden Administration Deports More Migrants Than Donald Trump’s, Hits 10-Year High:  the number of immigrants … the largest number deported in nearly a decade, even surpassing the numbers during President-elect Donald Trump’s first term in office.”   Could not find any AG Rosenblum or Rayfield lawsuits against Biden immigration deportations?  Why not if they really oppose deportations?  ICE continues to deport from Oregon today so what is different next year?

— The Center Square.  12/18/2024.  Supreme Court unanimous ruling may pave way for mass deportation … the federal government has the authority to deport illegal foreign nationals over the objection of local authorities …”   This court case was decided on December 10, 2024 two weeks ago.  Are Rosenblum and Rayfield defying the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court?  The AG participated in lawfare thus should know the legal difference between insurrection or rebellion or treason?

— Mwakilishi.  12/19/2024.  “This Supreme Court decision follows a recent Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruling, which affirmed the federal government’s right to deport undocumented immigrants regardless of local opposition. In addition, the Supreme Court had ruled earlier in June in favour of federal deportation policies in three consolidated cases thus reinforcing a strong approach to immigration enforcement.”  The question for Oregon citizens is will elected Democrats follow federal law or not?  Oregon’s AG filed opposition briefs in Chevron then lost.  The AG’s understand the supremacy clause thus have no legal argument so why are they jeopardizing the receipt of billions in federal funds?  This issue goes well beyond immigration!

— Oregon Catalyst.  12/202/2024.  “Senator Bonham: Kotek’s Unconstitutional Executive Order:  Senate Republican Leader Daniel Bonham (R-The Dalles) issued a sharp rebuke of Governor Tina Kotek’s latest executive order mandating project labor agreements (PLAs) on state-funded construction projects, calling it an unconstitutional power grab and an insult to Oregon’s contractors.  The Governor’s unilateral action will potentially inflate transportation costs by 20 to 30%.  Additionally, the executive order contradicts current contracting statutes in ORS 279A.015, which require fair, open, and impartial competition for state contracts.”  Is the answer to the questions above simple:  the elected Democrats do not follow the law?  Democrats initiated lawfare as a political tool?  Are elected Democrats openly racist against minority contractors as clamed just like they were in 1860?  What has changed with the Democrats since Joseph Lane of Lane County ran on the Confederate ticket for Vice President against Lincoln?  If you voted Democrat then you should be happy to pay more taxes.  Forget the fact you voted against the Measure 118 sales tax.  Your vote does not matter to your elected Democrats, or even neocons ether.  Will you pay 35 cents more per gallon of gas to fund this agency as Kotek wants?   Will you pay 70 cents per gallon more to give your money to cities and counties as well?  Your mayor and county commissioners want more money too … complain to them.
