Jerry Cummings wins Oregon GOP Chair

Local Columbia County Republican PCP and Oregon pastor, Jerry Cummings, won the seat for State Chair of the Republican Party of Oregon.   Jerry Cummings won after three rounds of voting  — 71 votes out of 128.  The voting went on for almost most of the day on Saturday Feb 22nd.

Cummings won over fellow contestants; Gabriel Buehler — Current Chair Washington County, Ben Edtl — Former candidate, founder of Free Oregon, Jo Rae Perkins — Perennial U.S. Senate candidate, State GOP Secretary, Angelita Sanchez — A founding member of Oregon’s Timber Unity movement, Current City Councilor

Even though it was a hotly contested race with many known political figures running, many people present said Jerry Cummings’ style stood out as someone who really got along with everyone and for which also is very much liked across different interest groups within the State Party.   Jerry Cummings ran on community engagement and grassroots initiatives with a special focus on engaging more youth in the Party.  Jerry Cummings also wanted to be focused on strategic targeting of winnable races in the future.
