The Oregon Senate today voted to pass Senate Bill 784, legislation introduced by Senator Todd Nash (R-Enterprise) and Representative Boby Levy (R-Echo) to allow high school students to earn college credit while preparing for careers in agriculture, forestry, and natural resource industries.

The near-unanimous vote today shows just how important it is to support the next generation of Oregon’s agricultural and natural resource leaders,” said Senator Nash. “With SB 784, we’re opening doors for students to gain real-world skills, college credit, and a head start on high-demand jobs that power our state’s economy.

The bill is part of a broader legislative package spearheaded by Senator Nash and Representative Levy to strengthen workforce development and career technical education in rural Oregon.

SB 784 now moves to the House of Representatives for consideration.
