According to an article from OPB, the federal investigation into former Oregon Secretary of State Shemia Fagan has concluded without any criminal charges. Fagan, who resigned in 2023, had accepted a $10,000-per-month consulting contract with cannabis entrepreneurs while her office was conducting an audit of the Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission. Although the U.S. Attorney’s Office has closed the case, the Oregon Government Ethics Commission has reopened its investigation into Fagan’s conduct, focusing on potential misuse of her office and her financial disclosures.

This news comes in the same week that the former manager of the Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission, who had diverted premium whiskey two years ago, has been reinstated and will pay a settlement of $500, as reported by the Oregonian.

A great question to ask now is, who’s next to get a slap on the wrist for questionable ethics?
