Lars Larson: My Portland prediction came true

The Northwest Nonsense

I warned you last year that adding 7 knuckleheads to the Portland City Council would produce bizarre results.

Frankly, when 5 people can’t make good decisions to keep a city from sliding into the abyss, how can 12 do a better job?

And the characters produced by Ranked Choice Voting: Consider new city councilor Mitch Green.

He says the city should only reward Portland State University if it agrees NOT to punish students who took part in the Pro Hamas, Anti Jewish takeover that did well over a million dollars damage to the PSU library.

Green told a rally of the Democrat Socialists of America last week that when PSU comes begging for dollars from city hall, they won’t get it if the destructive students get punished.

Equally strange is PSU’s plan to build a performing arts center.

PSU has recently jacked up tuition, cut staff, has declining enrollment and they want money for that?

Portland already has lots of space for the arts including the Schitz, Keller, Hatfield Hall, Brunish, Newmark and Winningstad theaters.

And PSU has the extra cash to build a performing arts center?

Just one more example of the strange priorities of politicians in public office.

And you wonder why downtown Portland looks more like Detroit.
