REP. MANNIX STATEMENT ON LARGEST FENTANYL BUST IN U.S. HISTORY

SALEM, Ore. – Representative Kevin L. Mannix (R-Salem) released the following statement in response to federal authorities conducting the largest multi-state federal fentanyl bust in U.S. history, resulting in the arrest of a Sinaloa cartel-linked man living in Salem:

“As a State Representative for Keizer and North Salem, I am gratified that our federal government has taken such strong steps to interdict the horrible volume of drug activity carried on under the control of this alleged drug dealer, who resides in our community. On the state side, I am pleased that our Joint Committee on Addiction and Community Safety pushed through legislation in 2024 which strengthens the penalties for drug trafficking. This shows Oregon’s desire to take strong action against drug traffickers. However, we never could have imagined that the worst alleged drug trafficker in the world would be living in our own community. I thank the Attorney General and the federal government for their strong action in this case to protect not only our community, but the entire United States.”
