Nanny state SB 702 hearing (diverts adult products into liquor stores)

Liberal nanny-state Senators are trying to force adult products to be stripped off shelves and forced into government-regulated OLCC liquor stores.

Several Oregon Senators wish to massively expand OLCC power by allowing it to handle much of the vaping/tobacco business by forcing certain flavored vaping/tobacco products to be only sold in liquor stores.   Already, Oregonians are not allowed to buy liquor at their grocery store like other states, now OLCC wishes to deny you the right to buy other products — except for their approved liquor stores.   If SB 702 passes, you will not only find it harder to buy the products you wish, but it will destroy hundreds of small family-owned stores that currently sell these products.

They are pushing Senate Bill 702.

There is a Public Hearing on Senate Bill 702 this Wednesday May 21st.  Please click here to testify in person or submit a free/easy online testimony online. (just click submit testimony tab on top)

Here are more details:

Liquor stores do not want anything to do with this product.

Vaping stores do not wish to go bankrupt by being forced to surrender their product sales to liquor stores.

The only people who want this big power-grab are state politicians.

Just look at the OLCC scandals recently:

• Abuse of government power: Forces private businesses to shut down and move their product to other private businesses to make a profit.
Liquor benefit raises serious ethical questions.  Are they lobbying to use government power to carve out this product exclusivity?
Handing more power to a non-stop scandal agency: OLCC has been involved in several scandals involving (1) their rare liquor inventory cheated customers (2) failure to control illegal marijuana sales (3) financial mismanagement of their new building by tens of millions of dollars and (4) transparency scandal and (5) improper executive conduct at a recent liquor control conference.
