Help us reach 1,000 testimonies against gas tax (almost there)

#1. There is only 24 hours left to leave an online testimony directly to the State Capitol website to oppose the near $2 billion transportation tax House Bill 2025.

There are 798 opposition testimonies against the bill as of 6/11.  It would be a powerful statement if we broke 1,000 opposition statements — few bills ever get this close.

Submitting an online testimony is easy — you can either upload a PDF file of your testimony or just fill out the Capitol online form and leave a few sentences on why passing 11 new taxes is a bad idea.

Here are the 11 new taxes as part of HB 2025.

• Gas tax increase +37%. 40 cents to 55 cents.
• Gas tax indexed to inflation forever
• Wage tax 300% increase! The transit payroll tax raises from .1% to .3%
• DMV fee #1 + 162%. car registration $43 to $113
• DMV fee #2 + 146%. drivers test $45 to $111
• DMV fee #3 + 175%. License plate $12 to $33
• Transfer tax on new cars. 2%.
• Creates new tax on used cars at 1%
• Vehicle privilege tax +200%: Current .5% tax on new cars now increases  to 1%.
• Road use charge for Electric Vehicles
• Road Use charge for delivery vehicles 10 or more

Some families will pay nearly $600 in higher taxes if this bill passes.  Ouch!!
