Oregon took a new step into radical policy making by passing SB 916, which “Provides that an individual otherwise eligible for unemployment insurance benefits is not disqualified for any week that the individual’s unemployment is due to a labor dispute in active progress at the individual’s place of employment.” to both public and private sector employees has now been signed into law by Governor Kotek. This new law, which the Taxpayer Association of Oregon, Oregon’s business leaders, and public school districts warned of the significant impact of increased financial costs, also includes greater incentives for employees to strike.   The Oregonian Editorial Board spoke out against the bill three times, which forced it to be reduced in effect.
