Lars Larson: We’re running out of kilowatts

The Northwest Nonsense:

Imagine the electric power we could enjoy here in the pacific northwest if it wasn’t literally illegal to build natural gas power plants.

I’m already hearing from customers whose utilities warn them to voluntarily conserve or face blackouts.

Despite that, state officials want everyone in the region to switch from natural gas space and water heat and gasoline cars to electricity…at the same time that we are running short of kilowatts.

Northwest power planners guarantee that the risk of blackouts will become much more common in the next 5 years.

And no wonder.

The Northwest has seen the decommissioning of its nuclear plants, the shutdown of coal plants in Oregon and Washington and edicts against buying coal power from other states.

And then consider the announcement this week from President Trump in Pennsylvania.

Joe Biden’s war on coal shut down the Homer City Power plant that provided juice for 2 million homes.

Now, a private company puts up 15 billion for a brand spanking new natural gas-fired power plant that produces twice as much electricity at low cost.

Oregon law forbids new natural gas fired power plants.

So, as the solar and wind jihad continues, get ready to freeze or sweat in the dark, depending on the season,
