The Trump administration, via Health Secretary RFK Jr., just approved waivers for these six states to being banning their food stamp program from being used on junk food; West Virginia, Florida, Colorado, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas.

Taxpayers are subsidizing obesity.

Food stamps can be used to buy almost every sugar and fattening item in a grocery store.   RFK Jr. said that 1 out of 10 food stamp dollars are used to buy sugar-based soft drinks.  Candy represents another 7%.

Here is a local Oregon sign promoting Starbucks users to use food stamps to buy their pastries.

Two years ago lawmakers drafted SB 1585 which would have expanded food stamps to cover hot foods like pizza, hot dogs, hamburgers and steaks.

Oregon should get a waiver to block food stamps from being used for junk food.
