In rural areas of Oregon, and counties throughout the nation, more people are dying than giving birth, and they have been since 2020, according to The Oregonian/OregonLive. In some counties, twice as many people died as were born, but in Curry County near Oregon’s southern border, three times as many died, which means the population will decline significantly unless they can entice more younger people to live there. Stateside, about 1.1 people in Oregon died for every person born.
