The Taxpayers Association of Oregon received a letter about how Portland is hiding their troubles as the national spotlight is upon the City.  Below is a composite of the letter:

“I was in Portland for a major conference which drew city leaders from all across Oregon. It drew all of Oregon’s top speakers such as Tobias Reed, Kate Brown, as well as other former Governors. I find it disheartening that our current Governor decided to go to Korea instead of attending and speaking to all of the leaders of all of the cities in Oregon. There wasn’t even a representative from her office there either. We were lodged at the Marriott on the waterfront. It was quite obvious that the area was cleaned up before the conference. You could still see tent stake holes in the park ground. They had an area under the bridge that was fenced off with black plastic so you could not see inside. Almost every session at the conference, people began with “thank you to all for coming to Portland. It is a safe and welcoming place despite the rhetoric that Donald Trump is putting out there.” I have never seen so many people trying to convince others that what you see on TV is not real. There are areas in Portland that are not being affected by what is happening at the ICE facility but there are also areas ridden with the homeless and crime. Heck you can see it when driving on the freeways.”

The Taxpayers Association of Oregon also witnessed a dedicated clean-up effort after every nighttime rioting at the Portland ICE building.  Every morning, there are people who clean up the trash disposed from hours earlier.  Then it all gets messed-up by nightfall.

Independent reporter Kevin Dahlgren has shared numerous times on City homeless sweeps followed by City handouts of tents they helped replace.
