Multnomah County District Attorney is trying to connect with the 1,000 Portland victims of human trafficking so that they can help them with with a compensation fund.  The number fo victims is painfully extraordinary.

Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office statement, “The Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office is sending letters to more than 1,000 Portland area victims who may have been sex trafficked on the website Backpage between 2004 and 2018, when the site was shut down by the federal government. The Department of Justice is now using the money and assets seized to help survivors heal. Today, Senior DDA JR Ujifusa and sex trafficking survivor and advocate Robin Miller spoke to local media about our office’s efforts to inform survivors about the federal program, known as Backpage Remission. SDDA Ujifusa said, “We hope we can reach those individuals and provide them with the support they need to help them receive some compensation.” There will soon be a page on MCDA.us dedicated to providing resources to survivors to help them navigate the process.”
