Jelmi Hisserich, the head of Portland’s housing department, has stepped down from her position following an unexpected leave ordered by Mayor Keith Wilson, just one year after being hired. She will receive a severance package totaling $240,880, equivalent to her annual salary. As Housing Director her top priority was fighting the unaffordability crisis in the City.  Now, she is part of that unaffordbility of running the City. Hisserich had been on paid administrative leave for the last three weeks. Notably, she is the second bureau leader to be placed on administrative leave during Mayor Wilson’s term.
