Lars Larson: We must privatize TSA

By Lars Larson
NW and national radio host,

25 years ago this September, I argued in favor of private security for American Airports after the terrorist attacks of 9-11.

I lost that argument, back then, to the folks who wanted security from a massive government bureaucracy now known as the TSA.

Frankly, I can’t think of a single thing the government does better than the private sector.

Congress funds the TSA unless Democrats decide they want to use it to make a political point, which they’re doing this week.

So, 50-thousand TSA screeners work without pay because the Democrat Party fears losing its illegal alien voters right before a major election.

Wait times at American airports now amount to five or six hours. The FAA warns that if the situation gets worse, it may have to close some airports altogether.

We might avoid all of this if we contracted for private security.

22 American airports enjoy private security, including San Francisco International.

It costs the same, provides higher quality and wouldn’t have to fall victim to Democrat Party tantrums on Capitol Hill.

Meantime, I hope every one of the millions of Americans who got stuck in the TSA gauntlet these past weeks, remembers that at election time.

That’s the Rose City Rap. Join me at noon on KXL for 4 hours of Honestly provocative talk. I’m Lars Larson
