The Portland Finance and Governance Committee held a hearing on the controversial Transportation Utility Fee this week and delayed the proposal to its next meeting on April 15, 2026. The road tax would charge single-family homes $12 per month, multi-family units $8.5 per month, and a 4.3% fee on business utility bills. The goal is to bring in $47 million as a backdoor tax. Portland already has a 10-cent gas tax to pay for roads. They wasted that money and are now sneaking this tax on the water bill.
