2x Oregon postal workers caught stealing mail

A former U.S. Postal Service worker admitted to stealing cash, checks, money orders, and a credit card while working in Tillamook County. Jessica Alires, a 46-year-old from Nehalem, Ore., pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to misappropriating postal funds in 2024, between September and December, while working in Wheeler, Ore., where she voided money orders after issuing them to customers and pocketed the money and reported false payments to cover the cost. Her sentencing is Oct. 14. She faces a maximum sentence of a $250,000 fine and 10 years in prison.

A man from Burns, Oregon, was sentenced to federal prison this year for engaging in mail theft while employed with the U.S. Postal Service at the Hines, Oregon Post Office.  Patrick Wright, 44, received a sentence of 45 days in federal prison followed by two years of supervised release. In addition, he was ordered to pay more than $2000 in restitution.
