Lars Larson: Yes on Diehl, No on Measure 120

The Northwest Nonsense

The last republican Oregon governor walked out of office 39 and a half years ago.

The last four decades have seen the state slide downhill fast with Democrats occupying every statewide office and two thirds of both houses of the legislature.

Today, when they count the votes, Oregonians can give Ed Diehl the nomination to run against Tina Kotek…an abject failure as Governor.

Diehl, last fall, saw lawmakers pass a multi billion dollar tax increase that he knew the public opposes and can’t afford. So unlike decades of republicans he actually did something about it. Got the signatures gathered to put it to a vote in record time while others sat on their hands.

Today, voters decide both matters…voting no on Measure 120 to kill an unnecessary jacking up of taxes to feed an ODOT bureaucracy grown fat on excess. And choosing a republican who can win in November.

Tina Kotek hasn’t fulfilled a single promise she made…to solve homelessness, to increase housing or improve the economy. She failed on all of those and voters should give her a pink slip six months from now.

Then Ed Diehl, with a track record of actually fixing problems, can start cleaning up Kotek’s mess.
