Com. Gonzales, who dethroned Hardesty, now runs for mayor

The Oregonian reports that Portland City Commissioner Rene Gonzales is running to Portland Mayor after current Mayor, Ted Wheeler, decided not to run.

The Oregonian states, ” I think a centrist can win…I think we’re at a different point than we were two years ago. The political consensus has shifted dramatically in that time… But crime is still way too high,” he continued. “Our overdose rates are way too high. Our first responder system is still overwhelmed. Nor do we have a long-term solution to behavioral health in the state, much less the region”. Read more.
