The State of Oregon is desperately trying to give away free $120.00 to over 10,000 families as part of their Summer EBT program.

The idea is that many students get free breakfast and lunch in their local public school, but when school is out, the government feels compelled to hand them food money for the summer — even if people are not asking for it.  Could a High School student not work for the summer for one week to earn $120?   Now, they don’t have to.

Summer is nearly over, and now the Oregon Department of Human Services is on a race and media campaign to hand-out the free food money to people for whom they have no idea exist (in the way that they think they do).

They are seeking to over 10,000 families to qualify.

Instead of basing the program on people who have asked for it or by working with local charities to see first hand the need — the State of Oregon is instead just advertising free money.   This means you will be attracting people who may not need it but will take it — which wastes taxpayer dollars and makes it harder in the future to fund the people who actually NEED it.   This is how government defines success — not by the amount of people they lift out of poverty with their programs but by how many people are enrolled in their poverty programs.  There is a big difference!
