Rep. Helfrich: Will not re-run for House leader

Representative Helfrich Announces Intention to Not Seek Re-Election as Oregon House Republican Leader
By Oregon House Minority Leader Jeff Helfrich,

Today, Oregon House Republican Leader Jeff Helfrich (R-Hood River) made the following statement:

“Today, I am announcing my intention to not seek re-election as leader of the Oregon House Republican caucus.

This week, as I laid my father to rest, I found myself contemplating what truly matters in life. For me, it’s the unwavering love of family.

When I took on the responsibility of leading our party last September, we faced the challenge of not only preserving the gains we had achieved but also expanding our reach across Oregon. I am proud to say that we rose to that challenge. In the midst of what many deemed the most contentious presidential election in our nation’s history, we not only held our ground but also increased Republican votes throughout the state. This is a testament to our shared vision for a brighter tomorrow.

Together, we made significant strides, including re-criminalizing dangerous drugs—an essential step toward safeguarding our families and restoring the fabric of our communities.

As I move forward, I remain hopeful and excited about the future of conservatism in Oregon. Let us continue to champion the values that uplift the lives of everyday Oregonians: hard work, personal responsibility, and the belief that together we can build a stronger, more prosperous state.”
