Arkansas has digital drivers licenses and so does Florida, Illinois.   Idaho, Georgia and California may be next.   Now Oregon may join the list with SB 416.

Oregon Senate Bill (SB416) seeks to have the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) create and provide the option for digital driver’s licenses, identification cards, and driver permits on a mobile device.

The Senate Bill (SB416) summary reads: “Directs the Department of Transportation to provide optional mobile driver licenses, driver permits and identification cards. Provides that the department may contract with private entities to provide mobile credentials and establish fees”

One concern about this bill is the loss or stolen personal device of a digital driver’s license or “mobile driver’s license.” The Senate Bill (SB416) allows the suspension and even termination of digital licenses if in section 2.4.The person reports that the person’s electronic device has been lost, stolen or otherwise compromised. ” If you lose your phone, you can also lose your lines.  SB 416 sponsored by Senator AARON WOODS.
