Secure our elections: Support SB 210

Oregon’s election security concerns affect all voters, regardless of party affiliation. Recent failures—such as the inadvertent registration of over 1,500 noncitizens in Oregon and the United States Postal Service failure to deliver ballots to 2% of registered voters in Coos County—are only two of many examples that underscore the urgent need for reform.

Oregon Senate Bill 210 is a critical measure to restore confidence in Oregon’s elections by:

  • Making in-person voting standard, with exceptions for military, overseas voters, and those unable to vote in person.
Requiring photo ID for voting and ballot requests.
  • Ensuring all mail-in ballots are received by Election Day – a standard already enforced in most states.
  • Despite these common-sense reforms, most testimonies submitted at the bill’s March 31st hearing were in opposition. Oregonians who support election integrity still have time to make their voices heard—written testimony in support of SB 210 is due by Wednesday, April 2nd, at 1 PM. Oregon’s lax election practices, including allowing voters to register without proof of U.S. citizenship (ORS 247.012) and counting ballots with missing or illegible postmarks (ORS 254.470), expose the state to unnecessary vulnerabilities. These policies could also put Oregon at risk of losing federal election funding under the latest Executive Order on election integrity.

Adding to the concern, Oregon is currently facing multiple lawsuits for failing to comply with the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA), including allegations that the state refuses to provide access to voter registration maintenance records and has failed to remove inactive voters from its rolls. Meanwhile, the Republican National Committee (RNC) has issued public records requests in 48 states, including Oregon, demanding transparency on how states maintain voter rolls and remove ineligible voters.

Oregonians deserve elections that are fair, accurate, and secure. The Oregon Republican Party stands firmly behind SB 210 and urges state leaders to align Oregon with national best practices to protect the integrity of every legal vote.

Take Action Now! Submit written testimony by Wednesday, April 2nd, before 1 PM at https://bit.ly/SB210testimony to support SB 210 and help safeguard Oregon’s elections.
