State’s biggest business building for sale (sad story)

The Oregonian is reporting that Oregon’s largest building, the Big Pink US Bank tower is mostly empty and up for sale.  Read more here.

The building was named US Bank tower for its flagship business — US Bank.  But US Bank fled the building for Gresham where taxes are much lower. Two other big firms, Survey-Monkey and legal firm Miller Nash left the building in 2023.

Previously, the Bank Tower had a crime problem, so they hired a police robot to patrol the area.

That apparently looks like it did not work out that well.

Portland’s office vacancy rate was the #1. highest in the United States last year for comparable cities.

Just in time for the important sale — Portland is working on raising Uber taxes, Parking meter fees, a $1.8 property tax bond, and a massive income/business tax by extending the Homeless services tax.
