Suspect Heriberto Salazar Amaya is the Oregon drug kingpin behind the biggest fentanyl drug bust in United States history. It turns out that he was caught illegally in America on two different occasions, in 2010 and 2012. Since 2012, America has endured a season of catch-and-release and a season of low enforcement of the border, so Mr. Amaya could have crossed dozens of times since his initial capture. The soft border allowed him to build a criminal empire with 15 henchmen who touted 49 firearms and stash of over 4 million fentanyl pills, 4.5 kilos of heroin, 7.6 kilos of cocaine, and 79 pounds of meth.

All of this could have been avoided if America had secured the Border and had not reduced enforcement.

This kingpin evaded authorities by constantly changing cell-phones and living in revolving rentals.   This is why when you catch a criminal, you need to put him behind bars, lest he build a criminal empire like this suspected kingpin did.
