60% find it hard to cover $400 (how they gonna pay Kotek’s $300 gas tax?)

A new survey out from the Oregon Values/Beliefs and Oregon Consumer Justice groups shows that 60% of Oregonians would find it hard to come up with $400 in an emergency.  Roughly, 27% would not be able to immediately come up with the money.  About 33% could pay it but it would be difficult.

Yet, Oregon Governor Kotek’s new gas tax/wage tax plan will cost many families with children over $300 in higher expenses.  That is a 15% increase in the gas tax, DMV fee hikes and a 100% increase in the transit wage tax on your ages.

The vote in the Senate on this tax is expected next week.
