Kotek calls herself anti-toll in new Governor run (big lie!)

Oregon Governor Tina Kotek this week officially announced her run for Governor in the 2026 race.

Surprisingly she took time to declare herself the anti-toll candidate when she said in her announcement that she, “Lowered costs for families by canceling freeway tolls”

This is not true.

• Tina Kotek approved the bill to give government the power to toll in 2017 (HB 2017).

• Gov. Kotek did indeed vote to end the pending “requirement” to toll (HB 3991), but still retained the power to toll.   There is no protection for taxpayers if tolling programs decide to advance.

• Gov. Kotek voted for the bill implementing toll on the I-5 bridge (Hb 2931).  That was just a few months ago.

• Gov. Kotek cannot say that she “Lowered costs for families by canceling freeway tolls” because that toll change was in HB 3991 which raised the cost of drivers by raising the gas tax 15%, doubling DMV fees, doubling transit wage tax and instituting new Ev fees.  Kotek just shifted the costs around.
