SB 1586: A Bipartisan Abundance Bill

Last week, I wrote about an abundance agenda bill. Here’s another, SB 1586. The abundance agenda is a movement originating from moderate Democrats to reduce red tape in government operations, best captured by New York Times columnist Ezra Klein’s book Abundance.

SB 1586 would impose deadlines on some state agencies to process applications for permits and make the deadlines known to the public. The act also contains several specific changes to well-favored tax credits, like those for semiconductor research, advanced manufacturing, and enterprise zones. It even adds another specific expansion of land use for rural Washington County. If enacted, this would take effect relatively soon, on the 91st day following sine die.

It looks like a legit abundance agenda bill to me. SB 1586 deserves that bipartisan support.
