Oregon Governor Tina Kotek made this media statement on IP 28, “I don’t support IP28 because I believe criminalizing standard agricultural practices and lawful activities like hunting and fishing would be the wrong direction for Oregon. As your governor, I will continue to champion strong animal welfare protection while respecting the long-standing tradition and livelihoods of farmers, ranchers, fishermen, and hunters across our state.”

The measure is opposed by the Oregon Farm Bureau and Oregon Cattlemen’s Association.

Musician and hunting advocate, Ted Nugent also opposed IP28 by saying on Newsmax that hunting helps the environment by controlling animal populations.  Without hunters, the state would raise taxes to pay for more wildlife control to pay government officials to do the job hunters do for free.
