Ex-Oregon U.S. Senator Bob Packwood dies

Former U.S Senator Bob Packwood died while in hospice in California this June 6, 2026.  Packwood is most positively known for his leading role in the 1986 Tax Reform Act which was won of the biggest tax reforms in American history.  He is also known for the founding of the Oregon Dorchester conference which is cited as Oregon’s longest running political conference and for which celebrated 60 years this 2026.
