Romney’s VP running mate is Paul Ryan!

by NW Spotlight

CBS News is reporting that Mitt Romney’s campaign has announced he has chosen Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan to be his running mate.

Many remember Rep. Paul Ryan schooling President Obama at the February 25, 2010, Bipartisan White House Summit on health care, including this quote from Rep. Ryan “The American people are engaged, and if you think they want a government takeover of health care, I would respectfully submit you’re not listening to them.”

Mitt Romney’s campaign web site has this bio on Paul Ryan:

U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan is in his seventh term in Congress representing Wisconsin’s First Congressional District. He is Chairman of the House Budget Committee, where he has worked tirelessly leading the effort to rein in federal spending and increase accountability to taxpayers.

He also serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, where he has focused on simplifying the tax code and making health care more affordable and accessible.

In January 2010, Ryan gained attention nationwide after unveiling his “Roadmap for America’s Future,” a proposal to eliminate the federal deficit, reform the tax code, and preserve entitlements for future generations.

Representative Ryan was born in Janesville, Wisconsin on January 29, 1970. A fifth-generation Wisconsin native, Ryan was the youngest of four children born to Paul Ryan Sr., who worked as an attorney, and Betty, a stay-at-home mom.

In April 2000, Ryan proposed to Janna Little, a native Oklahoman, at one of his favorite fishing spots, Big St. Germain Lake in Wisconsin. Later that year, the two were married in Oklahoma City.

The Ryans reside in Janesville with their three children, Liza, Charlie and Sam. The family are parishioners at St. John Vianney Catholic Church.

Upon entering Congress in January of 1999, Ryan was the youngest member of the freshmen class at the age of 28. Prior to running for Congress, Ryan served as an aide to Republican Senators Robert Kasten Jr. and Sam Brownback, former U.S. Rep. and Vice Presidential Candidate Jack Kemp, and as a speechwriter for Education Secretary William Bennett.

No private sector experience which Romney says is critical to running for office. No foreign policy experience (Palin), and a budget proposal that many American’s can’t or won’t get behind. I’m sure Ryan’s voting record supporting a lot of unpopular Bush policies are just the starting points for the Dem attacks. Lars is happy though as he picked Ryan. Romney/Ryan does have a nice ring to it. Making the ‘popular’ pick may not have been the best way to win the White House

Too funny-“This is a future in which we will transform our social safety net
into a hammock, which lulls able-bodied people into lives of
      complacency and dependency.”-Paul Ryan.
Seems Ryan has used said ‘hammock’ himself

I suppose you have more experience? Geez, what a fool. All you are doing is parroting something some idiot left-wing commentator said. Can’t do any better? Are you related to Fareed?

      • ardbeg

Yes I do have more experience, in life, in leadership, in the private sector and in the public sector plus many other areas if I really thought about it. I posted my comments as soon as I heard about the pick (not even sure if it was official yet) and just before taking off for a long weekend (doing my part to support the failing economy) so no, I’m no “fool” parroting some commentator as I haven’t had a chance to see any reactions to his pick. Just pointing out the painfully obvious stuff every fool (but you apparently) should know. and what the Liberals will use against the ticket. Who the hell is “Fareed” anyways. Your the fool if you think the only idiots are on the left. Both sides have more than enough to last a life time. Let me ask you something-are you one of those fools that votes R/D blindly? Or do you look at other parties (Gary Johnson for example). You sound like one of those “if everyone just voted GOP all the time everything would be fine”

A good pick as, if nothing else because it puts Wii even more in play. Ryan is popular in Wii, being reflected in a Democrat district by a substantial majority in a state Obama carried handily. Unlike Biden, who has to be kept in the closet like a crazy aunt, Ryan adds intellectual gravitas to the ticket.

A radical tea partier. Good luck selling this guy and his program. Romney is risking his one sure thing, old people on the government dole, for what I don’t know.
