Rep. Dennis Richardson: Campus Responders

Rep. Dennis Richardson

We continue to mourn with the families of 20 children and 6 adults killed last week in Sandy Hook Elementary School.  I am frustrated over our failure in America to protect our school children and teachers from future attacks.  President Obama rightfully told the grieving families in Connecticut “Surely we can do better….” and “We are not doing enough and we will have to change.”  The question is what kind of change will make our K-12 schools safer for our children and educators when the next mass murderer forces his way into another of our schools.

This is a serious issue and I am looking for realistic alternatives for our school district administrators to consider before a copy-cat massacre occurs here in Oregon.  Please do not think me insensitive to the grief being felt in Newtown, Connecticut and around America.  This discussion results from last Friday’s tragedy and if a change in school policy results that saves even one life during the next inevitable school-killing rampage, then the lives lost in Newtown will not have been lost in vain.

To focus our consideration on school safety, the debate over banning weapons will be addressed another day.  There are already 250 million firearms in circulation in the USA and assault weapons were already banned in Connecticut before last Friday’s tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary.  By sad coincidence a mad-man in China also entered an elementary school last Friday and used a knife to stab 22 children.

In other words, instead of responding to the latest mass murder with calls for more gun-control, the real issue should be ensuring the protection of our children and educators from armed psychopaths. Currently, when a killer begins his rampage the only armed person in the school for at least five minutes after the sound of the first gunshot is the mass murderer.

Training in classroom lock-down techniques is valuable, but passive.    Classroom lock-down procedures alone fail to protect the children and adults who continue to be murdered before the police arrive.  A police officer in every school is not the answer; a police officer would be the first target of a shooter and the cost would be prohibitive for most school districts.

Lives would be saved by stopping the shooter. Seconds count when the police are five minutes away.

To start the discussion, here is a simple, inexpensive way to enable immediate response after the first gunshot in a school is fired.   Establish a program of Campus Responders.

Campus Responders could be two or three responsible adult volunteers in every school (administrators, staff members, teachers or members of the community such as retired law enforcement or military personnel), who are enlisted and encouraged to obtain additional training and regular practice in the use of firearms.  Each Campus Responder would have a firearm concealed on their person or locked and concealed in a secure metal gun box bolted in their desks.   School district employees with prior military or law enforcement experience would be the initial candidates for this voluntary assignment.  No one outside of school and district administration would know the identity of these volunteers.

In short, having armed and trained personnel in every school would enable immediate response with lethal force if and when the lives of our children and teachers were endangered by a mass murderer.

If this procedure had been implemented, the number of students and educators killed in every school massacre from Columbine to Virginia Tech to Sandy Hook might have been greatly reduced.  (The same would be true if implemented by shop-keepers and mall personnel such as those in Clackamas) In Texas the Harrold School District’s “Guardian Plan” already has implemented such a policy.  Under present Oregon Firearm Law, school districts already have the authority to do likewise.  In Israel and Thailand armed school personnel save the lives of their children.  In America the slaughter of our school children continues.

To refocus this important debate let’s consider the following:  (1.) Mass murderers may be armed with guns, knives, explosives, and, as we saw last year in China, even hammers.  (2.) From the 1998 killings in Oregon’s own Thurston High School to last week’s massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary our students and educators have continued to be slaughtered in our public schools.    (3.) There is less than a one in a million chance that a mass shooting will occur in a school on any given day.  (4.) Police response times are at least five minutes; and, (5.) The costs are prohibitive and counter-productive to a quality education to turn our schools into educational prisons, with high fences, bullet proof doors and continual police patrols.  Nevertheless, as last Friday’s tragedy reminds us all, school campus massacres continue to occur and our passive policies have failed to adequately limit the number of innocent victims once the rampage begins.

What do you think of the idea of having 2 or 3 experienced and trained volunteers serve as armed Campus Responders?  Do you have a better idea?

If you have a serious comment on this important issue, please share your thoughts and ideas. Click Here.

Thank you in advance for helping me (and through your comments, school district administrators), evaluate appropriate policy changes in preparation for the next mass murders on a school campus.

The Chinese man stabbed children — reportedly, none of them died. I’m surprised a state representative can’t tell the difference.

PS: Richardson spammed me with this same message last night, though I never signed up for any newsletters or messages from him. Apparently he values his publicity more than other’s privacy.

The level of training and preparation one needs to be an effective, capable, reliable responder with a gun to an incident in a school where a well armed psycopath is spraying bullets at the rate of 60 a minute is rather high. And this is not one off training. Ask your local police department or military.

On the other hand, having guns in schools raises the risk that a gun will be misused, maybe stolen, maybe played with by the kids.

    • Ballistic45 Your statement is not all that correct.. Seems many such incidents have been stopped by armed citizens with average training as in the above Portland, OR Mall shooting that just happened…… There are far to many to list here of Mass Murders being stopped by armed citizens… They are not reported by the Liberal Media.. Mass Murders are cowards or they wouldn’t choose the most vulnerable “gun free zones” to attack… Oh, they will kill themselves knowing a personal head shot is the least painful but to be confronted by one or more armed citizens mean they could be pretty shot up and hurtin before they can off themselves if they are still able phyically… This appears to be what happened in Portland…

      • 3H

Why don’t you provide a few examples then? Not all of them, but a few would be helpful.

Finally, I don’t believe that most mass murderers, like the one in Newton, are cowards. I think they have severe mental and emotional issues. Framing the issue the way we have will not help reduce tragedies like this. If we start dealing with better access to mental health, and finding a way to help people before they start shooting would probably help more. Don’t you think?

    • B1bb

What we need is increased gun awareness so that a gun being played with or misused by someone is less likely. If having a gun is considered a normalicy, then maybe they wouldn’t be so glorified or frightening.

  • Ballistic45

EVERY mass murder in the last 20 years have been in ‘gun free zones’….. Liberals would make America a ‘Gun Free Zone’ like Australia and England.. Problem is, the Bad and Crazy guys are still using guns but now unimpeded… Australia is dealing with rising home invasions, and rising murder rates using, dah, guns… Liberals in Australia are deafeningly SILENT… What can they say? It isn’t working? Funny how the media after a Plane crash killing hundreds whether by Terrorist or by Weather always assure everyone that air travel is still safe and we should not shy away from air travel, they go to great lengths with data and such to prove the safety of air travel… They don’t advocate banning air travel.. BUT, let one insane idiot out of 300 Million go on a shooting rampage and they start calling for the rest of the 300 million Americans to forgo their rights of gun ownership and self protection.. No facts that guns are used 2.5 million times a year by armed Citizens to stop crime, often never having to fire a shot.. Or that many of these shooting sprees are stopped by armed citizens before police ever arrive… A question has to be asked, is the implementation of a ‘gun free zone’ make the author of such liable as an accomplice in any tragedy caused by such implementation… In other words, is the Federal, State, City and School district governing bodies accomplices in the school shooting? Because they forced the disarming of school faculty in a ‘gun free zone’ did they set them up as clay pigeons for any deranged shooter? We as Civilians have every right to go home each evening just as Police do… Police carry guns to protect themselves so they can go home.. They don’t have to protect you or me.. This is well established in Court decisions.. The courts have consistently ruled that the police do not have an obligation to protect individuals, only the public in general. For example, in Warren v. D.C. the court stated “courts have without exception concluded that when a municipality or other governmental entity undertakes to furnish police services, it assumes a duty only to the public at large and not to individual members of the community.”—— Reference (Warren v. District of Columbia, D.C. App., 444 A. 2d 1 (1981). See also Richard W. Stevens, Dial 911 and Die (1999) which gives the laws and cases in all 50 states to support the statement that government (police) owes no duty to protect individual citizens from criminal attack.) SO, our protection boils down to US.. Each citizen has a responsibility to protect themselves… The 2nd Amendment gives each citizen that chance to meet force with force….. Our founding fathers were not idiots…. But today we have idiots willing to throw another right out the window with a Nanny State Promise that if we do, we will be safer… Believe that? If you do, I got a bridge to sell ya……

    • DavidAppell

After Australia enacted strict gun laws, “homicides by firearm plunged 59 percent between 1995 and 2006, with no corresponding increase in non-firearm-related homicides.”

      • Ballistic45

David, please tell me you are not advocating citizens give up the RIGHT to protect themselves… Watch this video regarding CURRENT rising crime in Australia:

        • DavidAppell

This video doesn’t even say who made it. Who made it? I smell an agenda.

And what is the source of the statistics they give? I’d like to examine them for myself.

People in the video make the mistake of assuming the conditions necessary for the success of their argument. Sure, it sounds fine when some gun stands in his doorway and says he needs a gun. Tell me about when his little grandson finds it and shoots himself. Tell me about when his grandson steals it and goes down the street and slaughters a classroom of first graders. Tell me about when he pulls it out in a drunken argument and shoots his wife or neighbor. All these things happen too.

          • Ballistic45

David, it is obvious that you would give up your rights without a whimper.. Your logic is that pencils cause bad grades and cars cause wrecks.. No amount of talk, facts or History will convince you otherwise, our founding fathers were idiots to think any Government would become tyrannical and bad guys will always follow the law.. God forbid you ever have an armed break in at your home, you then will be left with the REAL choice to defend yourself or just hope you are alive to be a witness… I pray you have no family who would depend on you for their safety in such a case… Reality is, there are and always will be Bad Men and Crazies in the world… They have always found a way to get the weapons they want… They have always struck those who are the most vulnerable… All the whitewash in the world will not cover up this fact.. Yes, I use the information of others especially if I can say it no better.. You are doing the very same thing with the Liberal Mantra you spew out.. And the one thing you seem to forget as an American is that this nation was born with the need for a gun culture to survive.. Just as Japan has a culture centered around the sword and its role in its history… As far as gun used regarding crime, yes we have more crimes with guns, but 80% of gun use regarding crime is NOT to commit crime but to stop it… But you choose to consistently ignore this fact… You Ignore the lives saved daily from an Armed Citizen intervening, often without firing a shot… You ignore the fact that Criminals will not give up guns… You ignore the fact that a Government powerful enough to even come close to getting guns out of criminals hands are more in line with Red China and Korea.. No thanks, I would rather be FREE and Armed to care for myself, my family, my neigbor and my Country… I don’t want to live under a Government that powerful because the cost is to high in loss of freedoms…

            Have a nice life David..

          • DavidAppell

You can have a gun — just not a high-powered semi-automatic rifle that is only intended to mow down large numbers of people. Or large magazines. Neither of these is needed to defend your home, and the risk of abuse, both inside and outside the home, is too large.

In all of your comments on this thread you haven’t offered one iota of concern, sorrow, or anger for the slaughter of innocent people — it’s all about you, you, you.

          • Ballistic45

I’ll show my sorrow in my own way, thank you very much… It is the left who has turned yet another tragedy into a Political exploitation… Obama’s fake tear wipe doesn’t impress me in the least.. And as for semi auto rifles, and large magazines, your argument would make sense if the 2nd Amendment was about hunting and skeet shooting… It is not… Never was… See this video:, Listen to what he says not who is hosting the video.. Just maybe you will see what the 2nd Amendment was put in the Bill of Rights for… No they didn’t have semi auto rifles back in those days, the guns they had back then were on equal with any adversary or Government including England who would attack them… Do you have a crystal ball saying a semi auto rifle with a large capacity mag will NEVER be needed in America to protect your home…

And it amazes me that liberals will take this tragedy and exploit it by taking peoples rights away piece by piece to theoretically stop it but demand the right to kill 3000+ babies a day without a thought or a move to limit the use of Abortion so called rights… And WTF, Me, Me, Me… Gun rights are for all of us, my defending that RIGHT is not about just me, but you, your wife, your daughter, her kids… ALL OF US… Wake up, Please.. This is how Rights are lost, here a little there a little..

          • DavidAppell

Where do you people live that you have to sit huddled in your houses with loaded assault weapons because bad guys are trying to break through your front door and take your wives and daughters?? That doesn’t look like any place I know. Or maybe you’re just irrationally paranoid.

          • Ballistic45

Look to the LA Riots and the Business owners who used Semi Automatic weapons to protect their property… This does not take into account moves by THIS government to diminish the rights of the governed.. So who is crazy you or me… You because you stick your head in the sand or me who believes we have a RIGHT to protect ourselves.. I am not afraid nor do I huddle in fear, I am armed… Those who cringe and hide are those who have no way of self protection.. I refuse to be disarmed and many oath keepers will join me in seeing that I am not… You use any white wash you want, call those who stand up to protect our rights, that’s yours too, names all you want.. The fact is, this is NOT HEAVEN, nor will the Kum-by-Ya Liberals make it so by their gun grabbing agenda, not as long as Real Bad People and Crazies room our streets… Not as long as Governments run by Men are corrupt and seek more power over the governed.. Go back and revisit the LA Riots, and the LIBERAL shop owners who RUSHED to buy guns to protect their properties and found the long waiting period they had voted for standing in their way, they howled like banshees because it left them disarmed in a crisis, a crisis the LA Police refused to respond to for a period of time… Weapons are not needed in our society until it is YOU who is in a World of Sh*t, only then, for short sighted people, does it make sense…..

          • DavidAppell

I’m asking about households, not riot situations — where are all these people trying to break into your house, while you’re in it, stealing your women?

Guns in a home are far more likely to be used on a family member or neighbor than wild gangs of criminals. You have completely bought the paranoia sold by the NRA, and it’s a paranoia that is doing great damage to the fabric of the country and a civilized society.

          • Ballistic45

David I hope you are right and NOTHING Happens.. But being prepared is not Paranoia, it is the wise thing to do.. The News is not good for the Economy of the World.. If it collapses, you will see far worse than the LA Riots… Every time you Liberals make another grab for guns, you cause even more guns to be sold… More Americans are arming themselves, not because of crime rate but Government goals of limiting Rights… But I realize it is useless to continue this with you.. I hope you find the Liberal Heaven you so desperately seek..

          • DavidAppell

Paranoid is far different from “being prepared” — and you are clearly paranoid. The world economy isn’t going to collapse, the government isn’t going to go rogue, and you don’t need assault weapons to defend your home from rioting mobs.

You have fallen for the propaganda that others are using to their advantage.

And you still haven’t expressed the slightest concern for the children in Newtown, or the children who will be shot up next time. (Mourning is different from concern.)

          • Ballistic45

Well thank you Dr. David for your diagnosis.. First off, your not a Dr. that’s a delusion, your not a fortune teller and don’t know what the future holds in the world or this country or even in your life, and SEMI automatic weapons are not Assault rifles by military definition, even though Liberals have named them so… You all seem to IGNORE the fact that 98% of the 100 Million gun owners cause no problems, kill no one, hurt no one, some of which have federal licenses for FULL AUTOMATIC Machine guns, Tanks, Vintage Fighter Aircraft, Artillary and a host of War equipment… But let a tragedy happen and the first knee jerk reaction by the left, is to again infringe on RIGHTS of the Law Abiding Citizen with the miss guided idea that SOMEHOW it will curb the behaviors of Wicked People and Crazies… It is the left, like Obama who feigned a tearful eye while EXPLOITING the tragedy to again push for his gun grabbing agenda before the victims were even buried… And as for the liberal bicyclist, if the Sh*t hits the fan, Groceries run out, first you will turn on each other, then those remaining will be force to leave the cities, freeways become parking lots, the exodus from Portland will not be looking for expresso’s… You think it can’t happen in America, what gives you that arrogant idea? What’s stopping it, you, Liberals, Obama, God, what makes you think it CAN’T happen here? People throughout history have been surprised by what can happen, those that survive were prepared or damn lucky, which will you be? Liberals are doing NOTHING to stop an economic collapse… NO BUDGET GOING ON 4 years… All you hear is the call for raising the debt ceiling, Liberals blocking an Audit of the Federal Reserve to see where all that money went and the list goes on, riots in Spain as unemployment climbs, economic problems growing all over Europe, It’s going to take real work to save this economy and this leadership doesn’t have it, it is the same old TAX and SPEND no BUDGET answers.. If a family finances were run like this, you and I know it is a direct path to Bankruptcy… Keep drinking Obama’s Bath Water… And if you REALLY care about kids, I mean REALLY CARE then greatly limit Abortions, it kills 3000+ kids each and every day, don’t see Obama or you Liberals even faking concern over that loss of life…. But NO, that infringes on a Woman’s Rights.. (to kill 3000+ kids a day).. Oh no, lets infringe on gun rights, it will save us from child tragedies… Arrogant Hypocrites…

          • valley person

Ballistic, it isn’t wise to put your family at daily risk of a gun accident or temper tantrum killing to be prepared against an event that, at least in the US, has never happened and is extremely unlikely to happen.

Who is it you think is going to go rampaging through your homestead? Portland liberal bicyclists in search of an espresso machine?

Here is a graph of murders 1993-2007, from the Australian government:

It’s not “one idiot out of 300 million,” or haven’t you been paying attention? It’s Clackmas, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin, Columbine, Tucson, Aurora, Seattle, and many more:

Your ability to pretend you’re some kind of personal Dirty Harry comes after the country’s ability to keep innocent people — especially little schoolchildren — safe. Enough.

      • Ballistic45

Before we use these tragedies as a excuse to further the anti-gun goals. Let us look at what the media is not telling you.

It took place at a university in Virginia. A student with a grudge, an immigrant, pulled a gun and went on a shooting spree. It wasn’t Virginia Tech at all. It was the Appalachian School of Law in Grundy, not far away. You can easily drive from the one school to the other, just take a trip down Route 460 through Tazewell. It was January 16, 2002 when Peter Odighizuwa came to campus. He had been suspended due to failing grades. Odighizuwa was angry and waving a gun calling on students to “come get me”. The students, seeing the gun, ran. A shooting spree started almost immediately. In seconds Odighizuwa had killed the school dean, a professor and one student. Three other students were shot as well, one in the chest, one in the stomach and one in the throat.
Many students heard the shots. Two who did were Mikael Gross and Tracy Bridges. Mikael was outside the school having just returned to campus from lunch when he heard the shots. Tracy was inside attending class. Both immediately ran to their cars. Each had a handgun locked in the vehicle. Bridges pulled a .357 Magnum pistol and he later said he was prepared to shoot to kill if necessary. He and Gross both approached Odighizuwa at the same time from different directions. Both were pointing their weapons at him. Bridges yelled for Odighizuwa to drop his weapon. When the shooter realized they had the drop on him he threw his weapon down. A third student, unarmed, Ted Besen, approached the killer and was Physically attacked. But Odighizuwa was now disarmed. The three students were able to restrain him and held him for the police. Odighizuwa is now in prison for the murders he committed. His killing spree ended when he faced two students with weapons. There would be no further victims that day, thanks to armed resistance.

You wouldn’t know much about that though. Do you wonder why? The media, though it widely reported the attack left out the fact that Bridges and Gross were armed. Most simply reported that the gunman was jumped and subdued by other students. That two of those students were now armed didn’t get a mention.

James Eaves-Johnson wrote about this fact one week later in The Daily Iowan. He wrote: “A Lexus-Nexis search revealed 88 stories on the topic, of which only two mentioned that either Bridges or Gross was armed.” This 2002 article noted “This was a very public shooting with a lot of media coverage.” But the media left out information showing how two students with firearms ended the killing spree. He also mentioned a second incident.

Luke Woodham was a troubled teen. He felt no one really liked him. In 1997 he murdered his mother and put on a trench coat. He filled the pockets with ammunition and took a handgun to the Pearl High School in Pearl, Mississippi. In rapid succession killed two students and wounded seven others. He had the incident planned out. He would start shooting students and continue until he heard police sirens in the distance. That would allow him time to get in his car and leave campus. From there he intended to go to the nearby Pearl Junior High School and start shooting again. How it would end was not clear. Perhaps he would kill himself or perhaps the police would finally catch up with him and kill him. Either way a lot more people were going to get shot and die. What Woodham hadn’t planned for was the actions of Assistant Principal Joel Myrick . Myrick heard the gun shots. He couldn’t have a handgun in the school. But he did keep one locked in his vehicle in the parking lot. He ran outside and retrieved the gun. As Myrick headed back toward the school Woodham was in his vehicle headed for his next intended target. Myrick aimed his gun at the shooter. The teen crashed his car when he saw the gun. Myrick approached the car and held a gun to the killer who surrendered immediately. There would be no further victims that day, thanks to armed resistance.

Eaves-Johnson wrote that there were “687 articles on the school shooting in Pearl, Miss. Of those, only 19 mentioned that” Myrick had used a gun to stop Woodham “four-and-a-half minutes before police arrived.”

Many people probably forgot about the shooting in Edinboro, Pennsylvania. It was a school graduation dance that Andrew Wurst entered to take out his anger on the school. First he shot teacher John Gillette outside. He started shooting randomly inside the restaurant where the 240 students had gathered. It was restaurant owner James Strand, armed with a shot gun, who captured the shooter and held him for police. There would be no further victims that day, thanks to armed resistance.

It was February 12th of this year that a young man entered the Trolley Square Shopping Mall, in Salt Lake City. The mall was a self-declared “gun free zone” forbidding patrons from carrying weapons. He wasn’t worried. In fact he appreciated knowing that his victims couldn’t defend themselves. He opened fire even before he got inside killing his first
victims immediately outside the front door. As he walked down the mall hallway he fired in all directions. Several more people were shot inside a card store immediately inside the mall. The shooter moved on to the Pottery Barns Kids store. What he didn’t know is that one patron of the mall, Kenneth Hammond, had ignored the signs informing patrons they must be unarmed to enter. He was a police officer but he was not on duty and he was not a police officer for Salt Lake City. By all standards he was a civilian that day and probably should have left his firearm in his vehicle. It’s a good thing he didn’t. He was sitting in the mall with his wife having dinner when he heard the shots. He told her to hide and to call 911 emergency services. He went to confront the gunman. T he killer found himself under gun fire much sooner than he anticipated. From this point on all his effort was to protect himself from Hammond, he had no time to kill anyone else.
Hammond was able to pin down the shooter until police finally arrived and one of them shot the man to death. There would be no further victims that day, thanks to armed

In each of these cases a killer is stopped the moment he faces armed resistance. It is clear that in three of these cases the shooter intended to continue his killing spree. In the fourth case, Andrew Wurst, it is not immediately apparent whether he intended to keep shooting or not since he was apprehended by the restaurant owner leaving the scene.

Three of these cases involved armed resistance by students, faculty or civilians. In one case the armed resistance was from an off-duty police officer in a city where he had no legal authority and where he was carrying his weapon in violation of the mall’s gun free policy. What would have happened if these people waited for the police? In three cases the shooters were apprehended before the police arrived because of armed civilians.

At Trolley Square the shooter was kept busy by Hammond until the police arrived. In all four cases the local police were the Johnny-come-latelys.

Shooting in Butte, Montana Shotgun preteen vs illegal alien Home Invaders: Butte, Montana November 5, 2007 Two illegal aliens, Ralphel Resindez, 23, and Enrico Garza, 26, probably believed they would easily overpower home-alone 11 year old Patricia Harrington after her father had left their two-story home. It seems the two crooks never learned two things: they were in Montana, and Patricia had been a clay shooting champion since she was nine. Patricia was in her upstairs room when the two men broke through the front door of the house. She quickly ran to her father’s room and grabbed his 12 gauge Mossberg 500 shotgun. Resindez was the first to get up to the second floor only to be the first to catch a near point blank blast of buckshot from the 11-year-old’s knee crouch aim. He suffered fatal wounds to his abdomen and genitals. When Garza ran to the foot of the stairs, he took a blast to the left shoulder and staggered out into the street where he bled to death before medical help could arrive. It was found out later that Resindez was armed with a stolen 45 caliber handgun he took from another
home invasion robbery. That victim, 50-year-old David Burien, was not so lucky. He died from stab wounds to the chest.

Ever wonder why good stuff never makes NBC, CBS, PBS, MSNBC, CNN, or ABC news…… 11 year old girl, properly trained, defended her home, and herself……against two murderous, illegal immigrants…….and she wins, she is still alive.

Consider the horrific events at Virginia Tech. Again an armed man enters a “gun free zone”. He kills two victims and walks away long before the police arrive. He spends two hours on campus, doing what is unknown. He then enters another building on campus and begins shooting. He never encounters a police officer during this. And all the students and faculty present had apparently complied with the “no gun” policy of the university. So no one stopped him. NO ONE STOPPED HIM! And when he finished his shooting spree 32 people were dead. It was the killer who ended the spree. He took his own life and when the police arrived all they dealt with were the dead.

When will we learn that outlawing things does not prevent there use for illegal purposes, Only the law abiding citizens will follow such laws and ends up getting hurt by having rights restricted by such laws. The only sane laws should be increased consequences for those who use a “Thing”, barstool, bat, hammer, club, toilet plunger, knife or gun as a weapon in the commission of a crime.. Period…. When are people going to wake up to the fact that the Media, and Government use tragedy (Crisis) to exploit promotion of political agendas… You are being denied the other side of the story for a reason, think about that……..

Medical Malpractice Deaths Nine Times Higher Than Gun Homicides… reports,

The Institute of Medicine’s (IOM) seminal study of preventable medical errors estimated as many as 98,000 people die every year at a cost of $29 billion. If the Centers for Disease Control were to include preventable medical errors as a category, these conclusions would make it the sixth leading cause of death in America.

Where is the call for banning the practice of Medicine in the United States??? Absurd, of course it is…

Why, because the practice of Medicine helps far more than it harms… But if Main stream Media didn’t report the successes of Medicine, only focused for days on its failures and outright killing of victims.. Could people be swayed toward greatly limiting ones use of available medical help out of the fear they to will be a victim? Of course, and this is exactly what has happened with gun ownership…. FEAR mongering against guns by Politicians and Media have a purpose, think about that, what is their goal? The facts, if shown, would prove the opposite.. Guns are used more to stop crime by armed citizens than to commit crime….

Idiocy. People consent to medical care; they don’t consent to being slaughter. Medicine’s primary goal is better health, not better death. Doctors are highly trained, licensed, and insured. Mass murders are not.

Haha! Comical that when it suits him Ballistic starts quoting the trial lawyers of america! I thought you guys hated lawyers? So, why wouldn’t you suspect their data is incorrect? Oh, right, because conservatives cherry pick data like its nobodies business when it suits them.

I’m sure if someone came on here talking about tort reform being bad and pointing to that same data, you’d throw him to the wolves because AAJ is biased.

Give me a break. You have no credibility whatsoever.
