Oregon Dem’s $275 million tax increase down in flames!

by NW Spotlight

The Oregonian is reporting that Oregon House Democrats had to abandon their $275 million tax package – the Measure 66 & 67 redux – and instead passed the Republican minority report that calls for “$20 million per year by cracking down on off-shore ‘tax shelters.'”

The GOP revenue minority report passed 60-0. Considering how dominant Democrats are in Oregon government, this is a very impressive feat for the Oregon House Republicans!

Maybe the Kotek & crew will borrow $255 million from the future, otherwise it’s less for schools (even though there’s probably plenty of fat elsewhere in the budget to save) or heaven for bid (swallow pride) re-engaging on the Oregon School Board’s PERS reform proposal.
