Jeff Mapes at the Oregonian is reporting that Clackamas County Commissioner Tootie Smith, a Republican, has announced that she will be exploring a run for Oregon’s Fifth Congressional District (CD-5) for the seat currently held by U.S. Rep. Kurt Schrader (D).

Tootie was elected as a Clackamas County Commissioner last November, and she has previously served in the Oregon State Legislature as a State Representative, from 2001-2005.
