2016 Oregon legislative ‘short session’ begins today

The 2016 Regular Session of the 78th Oregon Legislative Assembly convened today. This session is the ‘short session’ of the 78th Oregon Legislative Assembly.

The Oregon State Legislature web site explains “Regular sessions convene each February and may last 160 days in odd-numbered years and 35 days in even-numbered years.” This ‘short session’ will end on March 5, 2016, or sooner.

Prior to Measure 71 which passed in 2010, the Oregon Legislature met every two years – except when special sessions were called.
