Executive Club: Treasurer candidate Chris Telfer

Chris Telfer & Bob Whelan

Sen. Chris Tefler — State Treasurer candidate

Although Chris Telfer is currently serving as a State Senator from Bend, she is not a career politician. Because of that, Chris is particularly well qualified for the Treasurer’s job in that she is an actual private sector C.P.A. and has a career in developing and running five different successful businesses.

Bob Whelan — On the casino measure
Whelan is a senior project manager with ECONorthwest, to give an economic breakdown of Ballot Measure 75 — The casino measure. Whelan has some astounding economic data on how creating one of the largest casinos in the country will impact the Oregon State Lottery and local small businesses.

You’ve got to be kidding. If being a bookkeeper and a business owner are all it takes to be the state treasurer, Oregon is in real trouble. I’d like to introduce you to some REAL CFOs. Not that you care but Wheeler, our current state treasurer is not a career politician either; he’s also been a business owner.

    Taken from the Oregonian endorsement:
“Wheeler has degrees in economics, business and public policy from Stanford University (BA), Columbia University (MBA) and Harvard University (MPP), respectively. He worked for years in the financial services industry, ultimately serving as a DIRECTOR AND MANAGER OF A FIRM THAT OVERSAW $6 BILLION in assets. In Multnomah County, he took on one of the toughest jobs in local government, transforming a dysfunctional county board, closing a $45 million budget gap and protecting essential county services. ”

The state has CPAs, what Oregon needs is a Treasurer that understands investing and the economy. Wheeler has already taken on companies and investment firms for Oregon. Telfer’s bookkeeping experience won’t help her when she’s going up against New York financial firms. Wheeler has already proven that he’s got what it takes.

    • conservatively speaking

Ugottabekidding. The Dem establishment vaunts another supplicant, vis a vis Wheeler das dealer.
      Nuts. Period!
