MEDFORD, OR – This morning, Jessica Gomez, Founder and CEO of Rogue Valley Microdevices, announced her candidacy for State Senate District 3.

Senate District 3 comprises Medford, Ashland, Jacksonville, Phoenix and Talent and parts of Applegate Valley.

“I am pleased to announce my candidacy for Senate District 3. As a business owner, I see firsthand the impact of government policy on our economy, education, workforce, and health care. I need to make payroll and provide healthcare for employees, manage our resources, pay off bank loans, and pay taxes.

Jessica grew up in a mostly Hispanic, working-class community on Long Island, New York, before moving to Oregon at the age of twelve. She returned to New York as a teenager and eventually found her way back to Southern Oregon to start her company and raise a family of her own.

Gomez went on to say, “My family has always instilled in me the value of education and hard work. I realized at a very young age that I needed to take responsibility for my own success and that failure was not an option. I am proud of what we have accomplished as a business, but it hasn’t always been easy. I’m constantly reminded that every job we create isn’t just about the bottom line. It’s an opportunity. It’s a future for another Oregon family.”

Gomez serves on the Oregon Institute of Technology Board of Trustees, was appointed by the Governor to serve on the Oregon Business Development Commission, serves on the Oregon Business Council’s Board of the Directors, The Chamber of Medford/Jackson County, and Chairs the Rogue Workforce Partnership.

“Oregon has limitless potential, but a lot of it remains untapped. Divisive politics only makes it more difficult for us to collaborate and create opportunity. I’m running for senate because we need less finger-pointing and more problem-solving.”

“Jessica is a compelling leader who can inspire Oregonians from all backgrounds and unite the Senate in a way that will improve the lives of all Oregonians”, said Senate Republican Leader Jackie Winters. “She has the experience to solve problems and make a difference for Southern Oregonians.”

“Over the course of the campaign, I’ll have the opportunity to share my vision for Southern Oregon and the state. I will continue to show every family, small business, and worker, my dedication and determination to support the residents of the community I love and cherish so much.”

Jessica lives in Medford with her husband Pat and their two children.
