Oregon Gov. Kate Brown held a press conference and announced that Clackamas, Hood River, Lincoln, Polk, Marion, Multnomah and Washington county residents will be required to wear masks in indoor public spaces like businesses and community gatherings.

Governor Brown said, “No, you won’t get arrested or get a ticket for not wearing a face covering. However, this is a requirement and it is enforceable.”

Is this a necessary and good idea to stop the COVID-19 spread? Oregon has witnessed an increase in infections and is fully entering into phase 1 today for all counties. Yet, the rule seems to be more restrictive than most states and Oregon has been rated among the final three states to fully re-open and among the bottom five for deaths-per-capita.
