Portland defunds police gun program, shootings up 240%

Due to public pressure the City of Portland recently defunded and closed the Gun Violence Reduction Team (Gang Enforcement Team) as reported by the Portland Tribune. Just during the first few days of July alone there have been over 17 shootings, a 240% increase compared to last year at the same time.

This is happening across the nation according to CNN:

On shootings…

Philadelphia  up 57%
New York  up 44%

On homicides…

Los Angeles up 250%
Milwaukee up 95%

Shootings and homicide are are a life and death matter, and our politicians should be fully funding programs and officers that keep us safe.
