House seat #31 a major shock to Democrat Majority

This Oregon election over House Seat #31 contained one big surprise to poll watchers, Democrat majority leaders and even Republican minority challengers.

Fifteen year incumbent, State Representative Brad Witt, was almost unseated by a few hundred votes by underdog challenger Brian Stout.  Brian Stout raised $35,000 to Brad Witt’s quarter million in fundraising and yet Brian Stout came within 400+ votes of winning.

The seat represents primarily the Columbia County region of Oregon.
